There had been 94 percent of completion of KLIA2, the airports built for the world’s largest low fares airline. And KLIA2 is expected to start to operate from 2 May 2014.
Chief Operating Officer of Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd ( MAHB ) Datuk Abdul Hamid Mohd Ali said the terminal building was completed 99 percent and now left only the final touch works” .
Abdul Hamid said 33 percent of the successful tendered for retail lots altogether new to the local airport commercial environment .
He said MAHB also registered a 40 per cent Bumiputera successful tenderer , the highest composition in the retail complex at this time , ” therefore, we have acquired a balanced mix of local and international brands . ”
Abdul Aziz said that since the airport was ready to begin operations in May , he was confident that by December this year, ” all retailers can go in and make changes and refurbishment of their store space . ”
” Business partners will be given two or three months to complete the renovation. The final inspection will be performed on March 15, 2014 to enable the airport began operations on May 2 as planned.
“KLIA2 will handle up to 45 million users and this reinforces our position as the fastest growing aviation hub in the region, ” he said.
