It’s confirmed that the on board Wi-Fi service by Airasia is not free. It’s expected not to be a free service since this project took 5 years in making. Airasia now is doing the testing and it’s expected to launch in end of this year.
Not all of the flight will equipped with Wi-Fi. The first batch of flights that have in-flight Wi-Fi come with the code ‘AK’. This product then will be available progressively.
About 120 Airasia volunteers have done the user acceptance testing.
They were testing IM service like LINE, Whatsapp and WeChat and the results are positive.
“This is one of many initiatives that we are rolling out to boost our ancillary income per passenger spent target of RM60 in the near term,” Tony Fernandes said.
Meanwhile with the lower oil price, Airasia is expecting a more strong performances in the second half of the year 2014. Tony said the lower price of the fuel could benefits the passengers in term of lower fares. Airsia’s duty free shopping service is expected to come as live within this month. That service is said to bring massive earning to the airline.
For the next few coming months, Airasia is still looking for volunteer to test the new Wi-Fi product. The price will be announced later, stay connected with Airasia’s social media channels! Airasia said it’s a affordable service.
